Ongame Launches Cash Games In Italy

Starting today, the Ongame poker network launches cash games in Italy, thus enabling bwin and GDpoker, the dedicated poker website of Gioco Digitale, to offer cash games in addition to tournament poker that was first regulated in Italy in 2008.

Matthew Scott Wins Fox Poker Club Main Event

Although the vast majority of the poker world currently has its attention fixed on the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, other tournaments continue to play out in various regions of the world. Just a few days ago, the Fox Poker Club in London held a Main Event of its own. Professional poker player Matthew Scott emerged victorious after working his way through 114 players. Along with the title of Champion, Scott earned 9,000 pounds from a prize pool of over 34,500 pounds.

Scott initially arrived at the Fox Poker Club this past Friday, intending to participate in the 35-pound buy-in tournament.

Top Poker Room Executives Face Criminal Charges

Last Friday the Manhattan Federal Attorney accused the executives of three of the world’s biggest online poker rooms of bank fraud, money laundering and violating U.S. gambling laws.

A total of 11 persons involved with online poker have been charged. Amongst them are PokerStars founder Isai Scheinberg, Full Tilt’s Ray Bitar and co-founder of Absolute Poker Scott Tom.

According to the Manhattan Federal Attorney, Preet Bharara, the defendants misled and bribed banks to make sure financial transactions from and to their poker sites would continue. These type of transactions are outlawed by the UIGEA, which was passed in 2006.
