Young Farmers Help Retired Workers To Play Bingo
Retired people who spent their lives working in agriculture will be able to play bingo, thanks to the hard work put in by the members of the Young Farmers group. The youngsters who are members of the Weston and Banwell Young Farmers Club (WBYFC) had worked throughout the last 12 months in order to raise £1,000, the Farmers Guardian reported. All the funds are set to go to the Beaufort House residential home in Burnham on Sea, which is run by the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution. The young men and women in the organisation raised their impressive sum by staging carol concerts, holding a harvest supper and running local bars for the National Farmers Union. All the proceeds are to be spent on offering things to keep the residents of the home entertained, ranging from musical afternoons and art, to learning tai-chi and playing bingo games.Chairman of the WBYFC Ed Redman said: “The members thought Beaufort House would be a fantastic charity to donate to as many of the residents have farming connections and were Young Farmers not that many years ago.”Bingo games can entertain young people as much as those in their older years, with it recently being played at a family fun day in London.
