Two of the most common things that online casino player needs to be aware of is the fact that gambling addiction occurs to a large wealth of the average online casino players as well as being tricked by fraudulent websites and phishing. Lets look at both in a little bit more detail.

Gambling Addiction

How does the average player and/or gambler benefit from online casinos? Is the internet gambling industry solely for experienced players or can beginners and intermediate players win a lot of money as well? These are the questions that many people are asking these days, as the industry grows more and more in popularity. Due to the ability to quickly access dozens of games with just a few clicks of a mouse button, a lot of people would assume that online gambling is dangerous. Is it, though?

In actuality, the average player does not have a gambling problem. It is the beginner and avid players who sometimes have trouble with addiction. Many avid players at least have enough to knowledge to win most of the time. Thus, the inexperienced player is in the most danger of developing an addiction problem. This is not to say that ALL beginners are going to become addicted, only that they are at a higher risk than most other players are. Even then, the effects are not always that bad.

Sometimes people tend to overestimate the effects that online casino gambling has on players. Just as long as you do not get carried away with your credit card, you should do fine. It is okay to play for fun, so do not allow yourself to worry if you play a lot simply because you enjoy doing so. You should only worry if you find yourself wagering more money yet never winning any.

Phishing and Scams

If there is one thing you should be very cautious of, it is getting scammed. There are many fake casino websites that try to cheat players out of money through phishing. More often than not, this is the biggest negative aspect of online gambling. Losing at an actual game is one thing, but losing to a scam is even worse.

Phishing, of course, is attempting to get someones credit card number or SS# by tricking them into providing such information. This is usually done through email, so if you ever receive a message related to ANYTHING about the industry, including websites, banking, games, software, groups, etc, asking you to confirm your password and account information, make sure its legitimate before complying or replying.

Sometimes scammers will try to disguise themselves as real casino sites in order to trick you into thinking youre getting a real email from a company youre familiar with. If this ever happens, DELETE the message immediately! If you are unsure whether or not it is really from your favorite site or a scammer, find out by manually opening your browser (DO NOT click through the email!) and visiting the site from your bookmarks or by typing in the address. THEN you can login to your account to make sure everything is okay.
